Easy Valentine’s Day Oreo Truffles To Make With Kids

Make Valentine’s Day extra fun with your little valentines! Oreo Truffles are the perfect way to make a special day sweet, but the memories of having your little one’s help will be even sweeter. My 5-year-old would live off of Oreos if I let him. He loves helping in the kitchen, and he loves getting his hands dirty, so this easy recipe has quickly become a go-to in our family.

Oreo Truffles are great any time, and can be decorated for any holiday, but we always choose festive heart-shaped sprinkles and pink frosting for Valentine’s Day.

8 ounces cream cheese

1 (14.3-ounce) package Oreo cookies (36)

12 ounces white chocolate chips or white candy melts

1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

2 drops pink food coloring

1/4 cup sprinkles, preferably pink, red, and white. Heart-shaped sprinkles are great too!

Cut 8 ounces of cream cheese into cubes and let sit at room temperature until softened, roughly 30 minutes. Meanwhile, line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place one package of original Oreo cookies into a food processor fitted with the blade attachment. Pulse into fine crumbs. Then, add in the cream cheese and pulse until the mixture is combined and forms a ball.

Scoop the mixture into tablespoon portions and roll each one into a ball. This is the part most kids love helping with!

Place on the baking sheet. Refrigerate until set, at least one hour.

Place 12 ounces of white chocolate chips or candy melts into a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 15 to 30-second at a time, stirring in between until all the chips are melted, and the mixture is smooth. It will probably take about two minutes in total. Add 1 tablespoon shortening and 2 drops pink food coloring, and stir to combine.

Gently roll each truffle ball into the pink mixture and thoroughly coat, one at a time. Spoon out and let any access frosting drip off so it’s not too gooey, and return to the baking sheet. Sprinkle each truffle with sprinkles. We like to use A LOT, but it’s up to you!

Once all the Oreo balls are coated, refrigerate them until the chocolate is firm, at least ten minutes.

We hope you’ll try this recipe with your kiddos this Valentine’s Day!
